Person County Recycling Center to sponsor the 2013 Spooktacular Run/Walk

PCRC Recycling Logo copy-1We are pleased to add Person County Recycling Center as a sponsor of the 2013 Spooktacular Run/Walk!

Person County Recycling Center accepts comingled materials from Person County and surrounding counties. The recycling center is located at 741 Martin Street in Roxboro, North Carolina. An attendant is on duty Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday, 8:30am to 2:30pm. Hoppers are available for depositing recyclables after hours.  Get more information about the Person County Recycling Center here.

Person County Recycling Center is operated by Person Industries. Person Industries is a community rehabilitation program that trains people with disabilities for jobs in the community. Employees receive on-the-job work experiences through Person Industries’ onsite and community employment work groups. In addition to the recycling center, Person  Industries employs people in work groups in several local industries through production, housekeeping and confidential shredding contracts.

Located in Roxboro, North Carolina, Person Industries is operated by the Person County Government. The program operates as one of the many community rehabilitation programs in North Carolina and indeed across the country. Although Person Industries is one of many, the program offers its own unique brand of services delivery from highly trained and qualified staff. Individualized services is the approach that staff take from the moment a person is referred for services through the assessment and training process, right through job selection and placement. The appropriate mix of consideration is given to the employee’s skill and job preference. Such a mix serves to enhance job retention.

March is National Athletic Training Month

National Athletic Training Month: March 2013March is National Athletic Training Month. This is a great time show our appreciation for the athletic training profession, as well as to explain exactly what athletic trainers are trained to do.

What is athletic training?

As stated by the National Athletic Training Association, “athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.”

Athletic trainers are educated in:

  • Risk management and injury prevention
  • Pathology of injuries and illnesses
  • Orthopedic clinical examination and diagnosis
  • Medical conditions and disabilities
  • Acute care of injuries and illnesses
  • Therapeutic modalities
  • Conditioning, rehabilitative exercise and referral
  • Pharmacology
  • Psychosocial intervention and referral
  • Nutritional aspects of injuries and illnesses
  • Healthcare administration 

Since DOAR & Affiliates offers outpatient therapy, let’s talk about the role of athletic trainers in our clinics. Our athletic trainers support the physical therapy staff in the treatment of a wide range of injuries and conditions. You can also find them on the sidelines supporting local high school athletics and community sporting events.
