What to Expect
As an Occupational Therapy patient, you will receive an individualized assessment. Your occupational therapist will ask you a number of questions about your specific condition and will thoroughly examine your problem or condition. Attention will be given to how you use your body at work, home, during sports, and at leisure.
Once your assessment is complete, your occupational therapist will develop a plan of care designed for your specific type of problem. This plan may consist of:
- Customized treatment programs to improve your ability to perform daily activities
- Recommendations for adaptations to your home and job site
- Performance skills assessments and treatment
- Adaptive equipment recommendations and usage training
- Guidance to family members and caregivers as appropriate
