Betty W. started physical therapy at DOAR South Boston on her birthday, and she is happy for what she claims was a “good birthday present.” She worked with Mike McClellan, MPT, and Amy Comer, PTA. Here is Betty’s story, in her own words:
“My doctor sent me to physical therapy, and it has been a blessing. I wish I had come here a long time ago. When I started, my legs were so stiff that I could hardly walk. I wanted to be able to walk better, stand up straight better, and sit up straight better. We’ve been working on my posture and balance, and they are showing me how to get stronger. I fell a week ago, and I was able to recover faster because I have been doing therapy. Now I can get in and out of the car and climb the steps by lifting my feet. The physical therapists stay with you and check you to make sure that you don’t hurt yourself. They motivate you, and they encourage you if they see you trying to do something. All of their personalities make you feel welcome. They are professional, but they are also down-to-earth, and they treat you right. I thank God for this place and for the people who work here.”
