Lori is a physical therapy patient at TheraSport Physical Therapy – Summerfield. She had surgery on her shoulder and had a lot of scar tissue and bone spurs. Lori works with Diana Rizza, PT, Amy Lynch, MPT, and Darlene Page. Here is her story:
Why did you start physical therapy services at TheraSport?
My shoulder had bothered me with pain for years, and it got to where I couldn’t sleep. I do lifting in my job, and it was getting to be a problem. [After the surgery], I had some rough movements in the beginning, but even then it was so much better and so much looser than before the surgery.
I came here [for physical therapy] because I live down the road, and it was convenient for me. I also wanted good quality of care. I figured out pretty quickly that this was a popular place; that says a lot.
How would you describe your progress towards your goals?
Before, I was having trouble getting dressed. Last week, I was able to zip my dress myself. You appreciate the little things that you take for granted, like reaching and shutting the car door. Those things that were painful before are so much easier now.
I have a few more weeks before I go back to work. The doctors have been pleased, and they and Diana and Amy think I’ll be fine. [Diana and Amy] have given me exercises to do at home to help me with maintaining my program. I’m anxious to get back to exercising and doing the things I need to do. I plan to keep at it.
