Amy Lynch and I recently participated in the Rockingham County Middle School Technology Day. We love going to the schools to present for events such as Technology Day because it gives us the opportunity to share with young students the things we love about doing our job every day. It is always fun to see and hear the questions they have about what we do, and it is exciting to see how we spark their interest in the field of Physical Therapy. One thing we always share with the students is how important it is to have a love and passion for what you do every day, and how rewarding it is for us to be Physical Therapists!
Here are some thank you notes that we received from the students afterwards:
“I really enjoyed your class the most. You guys made it fun, you both were funny! I thought it was cool looking at your joints and how they go, and what they allow you to do. My grandfather had to take therapy for his knee, so I saw all the things he had to do. I even saw some other people trying to get their strength back. I think it is very good to have something like what you two do. Thank you for coming to RCMS.”
“I loved your class. I think I learned the most from your class. I liked learning about how sports players can be hurt and get back onto the field. Also, I bet you feel good about yourself when you go home, because you know you helped someone. If you come again for Tech day next year, I bet they will love you, like we did.”
“Thank you for coming. I hope you will help people to get them back to normal. So they will play again. So they will not feel like to stop playing. So they will feel like keep playing.”
“Thank you for teaching the ‘physical therapy’ class, and for doing it will. What I really liked about the way you presented it was the hands on/materials/props that you used. I thought it let kids interact with how things work. Mixing in humor was another thing you did well, always room for a laugh. I now have new eyes for the subject of physical therapy. Thanks again.”
“Thank you for your time and letting me do the squeeze thing. Thank you for making me look so weak. That was one of my favorite things that you did. Another was when you also had that machine on your arm. I think your job is awesome. Thank you so much.”
