Established in 2011, the purpose of the DOAR & Affiliates Scholarship is to support post-secondary educational opportunities for qualified students. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must have a parent who works for DOAR & Affiliates. The student must also demonstrate a commitment to excellence in higher education.
The following students have earned a scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year:
Tyler Mathena is a rising senior at Old Dominion University. After graduation, Tyler plans to continue his education by pursuing a degree in physical therapy. Tyler is the son of Ronnie and Cindi Mathena of Danville, Virginia.
Sarah Turner is a rising senior at Virginia Tech, where she is a Communications major with an impressive 4.0 GPA. Sarah is the daughter of James and Robin Turner of Danville, Virginia.
Zachary Potojecki is a rising freshman at Longwood University, where he plans to major in Business Management and minor in Economics. He will also play NCAA Division I baseball at Longwood. Zachary is the son of Kevin and Tracie Potojecki of Danville, Virginia.
