This weekend, our physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training staff participated in a two-day continuing education course on the “Comprehensive Examination and Treatment of Shoulder Disorders.”
Day one of the course began by “De-Mystifying the Shoulder Complex,” followed by an overview of shoulder pathologies, ranging from rotator cuff tears to labral injuries. We spent the afternoon in lab sessions to practice examining the shoulder complex. Day two began with a review of post-operative shoulder rehabilitation techniques, and continued with a series of lab sessions including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and postural supports and taping. The lab sessions were followed by a review of outcome measures for shoulder rehabilitation. At the end of day two, we tied everything together with case studies.
We would like to thank our instructor, Chris Durall, PT, DPT, MS, SCS, LAT, CSCS and the staff at North American Seminars for facilitating this course. We would also like to thank the DCC Educational Foundation for generously allowing us to hold the course at Danville Community College’s Foundation Hall.
We are excited to apply the knowledge and skills we attained in this course for the benefit of our shoulder patients. If you have questions about how DOAR & Affiliates can help you with a shoulder disorder, contact the location best for you.
