Established in 2011, the purpose of the DOAR & Affiliates Scholarship is to support post-secondary educational opportunities for qualified students. The scholarship application will be open on an annual basis. Each eligible applicant may receive one First Year Award and up to three Next Year Awards. Eligible students may request a scholarship application by emailing scholarship@doarpt.com.
Eligibility
- An eligible student must currently be enrolled in an educational program: An eligible student must have a parent, step-parent, or legal guardian who is currently employed by Danville Orthopedic & Athletic Rehabilitation, Inc.; Accelerated Care, Inc.; Martinsville Physical Therapy & Industrial Rehabilitation, Inc.; or All Care Home Health, Inc. The employment status may be part-time or full-time; the length of employment must be at least one year at time of student application to the scholarship.
- First Year Award: The student must be preparing for graduation from high school AND demonstrate intent to pursue enrollment in a post-secondary academic institution or vocational program. The student may receive this award one time.
- Next Year Award: The student must have successfully completed two semesters of full-time coursework in a post-secondary academic institution or vocational program AND demonstrate a cumulative or major GPA of 2.5 or above. The student may receive this award up to three times.
How to Apply
Students who wish to be considered for the scholarship should submit one copy of a completed application to the address indicated on the application form. Application materials must be post-marked or hand-delivered by July 1 prior to the start of the fall semester of the academic year to which the award will be applied (e.g. if the fall semester begins in August 2011, then the application materials are due July 1, 2011). Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Selection Process
The scholarship coordinator will review and evaluate application materials using the Applicant Evaluation Form. Each scholarship applicant will be notified as to whether or not he/she is selected as a scholarship recipient and the amount of the award by August 1 of each year. Each application will be evaluated on the following:
- Achievement of the eligibility criteria as defined above
- Completeness and timeliness of application materials
Each award amount may vary based on:
- Qualifications of the applicant as indicated by application materials
- Employment status of the applicant’s parent, step-parent, or legal guardian (i.e. part-time versus full-time)
- Academic merit as demonstrated by the application materials
The number and amount of awards may vary each year based on scholarship funding as well as the quantity and quality of applications received.
