Jacquie’s physician prescribed physical therapy after she had an arthoscopic debridement procedure on her knee. Upon the recommendation of a family member, she chose Danville Orthopedic & Athletic Rehab as her physical therapy provider. Jacquie primarily works with Kate Albright, PT, Physical Therapist at DOAR Central in Danville, Virginia. A normal therapy visit includes “land” exercises in the gym area, as well as aquatic therapy in the pool. She plans to join the Alumni Program when her therapy is concluded.
Here’s a summary of Jacquie’s experiences with physical therapy, in her own words:
When I started therapy, Kate told me it was going to take time. I couldn’t climb steps, and I was having trouble standing for long periods of time, like for washing dishes. Now I can tell a big difference when I’m going up the stairs, and I can do dishes without stopping to rest. I can put on my shoes and clothes by myself, which I couldn’t do before.
This has been the best place for me. I told my mama, this is place where every person is nice. Everyone is patient, friendly, and they are not afraid to be hands on. They keep you informed, and let you know your progress. They don’t just write something down and not tell you what’s going on. They are always reassuring you. They take time and work with me, and I’m getting better. When they release me from therapy, I’m going to come here for the Alumni Program.
